Felonious Feline

“Hush”-style Catwoman in Ohio

"Hush"-style Catwoman

Webjefe’s note: Felonious Feline is a young lady who lives in Ohio. Here, she describes her attraction to Catwoman in her own words:

Why did I become Catwoman? Cats have always been my favorite animal. I was nicknamed Catwoman after a 'bring your pet to school' day because I talked to the cats and they would meow back.

There has always been a strange draw between cats and me. So of course when I saw Catwoman from the Batman: The Animated Series in the ’90s, she instantly became my favorite character. Something about her just struck me and I never knew what it was until I was 15 and invited to a costume party. I had nothing to dress up in so a friend let me borrow some clothes and I became Catwoman for the first time. Tight pleather pants, tight tank top, knee high boots, cat ears, a mask, and a whip. I had a blast!

That night was a huge step for me in costuming and being a little more daring like the character. One of my other friends was dressed up as Batman and we were sent on a few shopping trips for the party. The employees of Kroger's and Toys R Us got a huge kick that night seeing Batman and Catwoman walking around the store. Some made extra passes by the isles we were in. The next month, my Batman friend took me to the Mid-Ohio Con. I again donned the cat costume. The convention itself was a little dull but we had so many kids coming up to us that we soon forgot about that. The smiles on those kids’ faces was priceless and I knew I had to do it again.

It's been almost five years now and I decided I was going to again become Catwoman and return to the Mid Ohio Con. But my old borrowed black clothes wouldn't do. I commisioned a friend to make the suit and cowl of the Catwoman “Hush” costume. While she worked on that, I gathered the accessories. It's all come together puurrrfectly. Why her Hush suit? It seemed the most practical to me. Running around on rooftops in a purple suit and 5-inch heels is ridiculous! Plus, I always knew there was a good side to Catwoman and in Hush she joins Batman. Even for a short time. Another grey area in her life. A continual mystery. So the Hush suit it was.

Catwoman is also a great actress. She manipulates and paws her way into everyone's heart. It will come to no surprise when I tell you I love drama. I've done stage preformances and was even in a short film over the summer. It's always been something I've loved to do. Someday I hope to be in a Catwoman fan film playing the Feline Fatale herself. Time will only tell if this cat will leap to the semi-silver screen.
