Other ladies

Catwoman site salutes other ladies in the comics, 1966 Batman series

13 July 2009

Casual visitors to a Catwoman fan site may find the inclusion of other ladies to be a strange thing. However, these ladies deserve tribute pages of their own. Molly the Mole was the first femme fatale in the 1966 Batman television series. Her ending echoed that of Catwoman in the Feline Fatale's first outing two months later.

Batgirl Yvonne Craig would likewise seem a strange choice. However, this character's moxie in 1967 would characterize Catwoman's in the 21st Century. Furthermore, if Yvonne Craig in 1967 were 170 cm in height (5'7"), she would be a spitting image of today's Selina Kyle.

Zatanna is easier to explain in 2006 than she was when this site began in August 2004. We learn she had much to do with Catwoman's defection to the side of good in issue #51, which came out in December 2005. She and Catwoman were also together in the JLA comic, which ceased publication in February 2006. Now, she will appear once again in the August 2006 issue of Catwoman.

As of today, we have added Roberta, who was a 1950 prototype of both Molly the Mole and Carrie Kelley. We hope to add Hawkgirl and Lois Lane to this roster soon!
