Lesley Gore as Pussycat.

Lesley Sue Goldstein, better known as Lesley Gore, was born 74 years ago today (2 May 1946) in New York. A pop singer who broke onto the music scene in 1963, she went on to play Pussycat on Batman in January 1967. On her two appearances, she managed to sing a song each. Her uncle was a series producer, Howie Horowitz.

During this time, she was attending Sarah Lawrence College, near New York City. By the time she had graduated from there in 1968, her notable pop songs were behind her. She remained active in the entertainment field, making an appearance on an ABC special airing during Christmas season 1968 with Soupy Sales, among other things.

Ms. Gore remained an active singer into the 2010s. Sadly, she died of cancer on 16 February 2015, short of her 69th birthday. We remember her fondly on this day!
