Jill-as-Robin

As we mark the 56th anniversary of the Batman series, some things to ponder!

It’s no exaggeration that the debut of the Batman series on a cold Wednesday night, specifically 12 January 1966, had a huge impact!

And maybe 56 years is a long time ago, but this is as good a time as any to discuss our planned fan series, that has the working title Carrie’s World. Things have been terribly delayed with this for a number of reasons, including the recent flareup of COVID.

But that said, we are making plans for filming it. As things stand here are some options we’re putting out:

  • Batman and Molly Post: We explored this three years ago with The Conquest of Batman, and we can see Molly evolving from a Robin to a Catwoman Beyond, taking over the mantle of both the Caped Crusader and the Feline Fatale. That would mean finding a gorgeous redhead for the title role. And there would be a romantic bent to it.
  • Batman and Carrie Kelley: Much the same applies here, though there would likely be less of a romantic bent to it.
  • Roberta The Girl Wonder, the first attempt at a female Robin, from 1950.
  • Batman and Roberta the Girl Wonder: This one may offer more flexibility when it comes to the actress’ appearance. Though she appeared 72 years ago, she could easily be updated to reflect the geek culture of the 21st Century. And finally …
  • Batman and Catwoman: For some. this would be the logical approach, especially given the direction the comics are going in.

The idea we have is that we have an older Batman, played by yours truly, having a foil to work with, and preferably female. We see this project as a modern-day rendition of the 1966 series, as done in a Bronze Age style and set in the current era. As much as we hope to get those costumed villains, we may have to work with gangsters and other plainclothes types.

Until then, we have to contend with COVID and its restrictions. If you have any questions, or an interest in working with us, let us know!

Best wishes, Timothy J. Forbes
