A little too dark, and WAYYYY too long, but still a terrific film!!!

Selina Kyle really shines here!!!

On Monday, 7 March, we had a chance to see The Batman. We knew in advance that it would have a long running times (five minutes short of three hours). The story line threw the audience a LOT in one setting, and it clearly could have been made into two movies. And the movie seemed a tad too dark as well, something we would not do ourselves.

But that said, here is a Batman fan film in which we have the Caped Crusader as The Detective, and it has real dialogue. The pacing is excellent, and we also like the Batmobile used, which seems inspired by a 1968 Dodge Charger. We could have done without some of the aspects of The Riddler, who reminds one somewhat of Arthur Bremer, who shot then-Presidential candidate George Wallace in 1972. However, Colin Farrell nails it as “Oz” (The Penguin), and the rest of the cast is superb!!!

Oh, and then there’s Zoe Kravitz!!!

According to a 7 March 2022 article in the London, UK Daily Mail, the 33-year-old actress said that she was rejected for the role that Anne Hathaway took for The Dark Knight Rises, because she was considered “too urban.” We would have had no problem if Ms. Kravitz had landed the role in 2012, but nonetheless, she was terrific here!!! And she helped to make the movie already earn over $100 million at the box office. It will go on to earn much, much more.

And we also like Robert Pattinson in the title role as well. Do understand that the movie has Bruce Wayne/Batman in his second year as the Caped Crusader, so he has some rough edges. But (spoiler) how cool is it to see Bruce Wayne drive a black 1963 Corvette Stingray to a funeral?!?

Overall, the film ranks at least 8.5/10, with points taken for the length and the darkness. Well worth a watch!!!
